09-11 June 2010
Scientific committee: Marius Echim (BIRA-IASB), Hervé Lamy (BIRA-IASB), Tom Chang (MIT), Johan De Keyser (BIRA-IASB)
Between June 9-11, 2010, on the occasion of Professor's Tom Chang visit at the Belgian Institute for Space Aeronomy, in Brussels, Belgium, we will organize the workshop "Multifractals and turbulence in geophysics and space". The workshop includes one and a half days of invited talks (20 minutes for the presentation + 10 minutes for questions/discussions), a half day for open discussions regarding more specific, technical aspects and possible future collaborations and a day (Friday 11th of June) devoted to a visit to one of Belgium's attractions.
The meeting will include plenary sessions and round tables.
No registration fee will be charged. The Institute will offer a public transportation daily-pass for each of the participants, enabling free transport (Bus+metro+tram) in the Brussels area during the three days of workshop.
Local Organizing Committee: Marius Echim (BIRA-IASB), Hervé Lamy (BIRA-IASB), Johan De Keyser (BIRA-IASB)
The workshop is co-organized by the Belgian Institute for Space Aeronomy (BISA) and the Belgian Solar Terrestrial Center of Excellence (STCE). STCE is formed by BISA, the Royal Astronomical Observatory of Belgium (ROB) and the Royal Meteorological Institute (RMI). The three institutes are located in the same area of Uccle, the Southern "green" district of Brussels.
Deadline for Abstract Submission: 10 May
The workshop venue is the Meridian Room of the Royal Observatory, Avenue Circulaire 3, 1180 Brussels. The area is linked by public transportation to the city center (Bus 38 and 60, http://www.stib.be) and the main train station, Gare du Midi/Zuid Station (Bus 134).
Please do not forget to let us know, before June 1st, whether you would like to attend the excursion to Brugge (http://www.brugge.be) on Friday, 11th of June.
For any further questions regarding the workshop, venue, transport, and accommodation please contact Marius Echim or Hervé Lamy. We will do our best to assist you to have an enjoyable stay in Belgium.
